Ophthalmology and Eye Surgery for Pets
Veterinary ophthalmology focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions in pets. For certain breeds, this also includes eye health assessments for breeding dogs, ensuring their eyes are in good condition before certification.
Our veterinarians use specialised equipment to perform thorough eye examinations, including:
- An ophthalmoscope to examine internal eye structures
- Fluorescein dye, which highlights damage to the cornea under UV light
- A tonometer to measure eye pressure, useful in diagnosing conditions like glaucoma
While many eye conditions can be treated with medication, some cases require surgical intervention. Our clinic is fully equipped to perform a range of ophthalmic surgeries, including:
- Enucleation – eye removal for severe glaucoma or cancer
- Entropion surgery – to correct inward-turning eyelids or lashes
- Ectropion surgery – to repair outward-facing lower eyelids
- Eyelid tumour removal
- Cherry eye surgery – for prolapsed third eyelids in dogs
- Corneal ulcer repair – to treat ulcers on the eye surface
We are committed to protecting your pet’s comfort and vision with the highest standard of surgical care.
