Brian is our senior vet, graduating with a Veterinary Science degree in 1992 from the University of Melbourne and recently sitting exams for Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS), Brian has been practicing for what feels like forever and a day (it is no coincidence that his name so closely resembles the word “brain”!). After practicing as a vet in the UK, Brian returned to Australia and purchased the Belmont Vet Hospital with Paula in 2005. He enjoys all aspects of vet practice and has a particular interest in orthopaedic surgery. When he allows himself a day off, Brian can be found sailing, cooking or walking the dogs.

Emily obtained her veterinary degree from Sydney University. After graduating in 2008, Emily spent 2 years practicing as an equine veterinarian on the central coast. She moved to Newcastle in 2019 with her family and her adopted stray cat Mao, and began working at our clinic shortly after. When not busy juggling her 4 young children or trying to catch up on sleep, Emily loves being outdoors – riding horses, swimming in the ocean and bush walking.

Peter graduated from the University of Queensland and has worked in the greyhound industry for over 50 years. His depth of knowledge and calm, practical approach make him a trusted and respected member of our team.
He continues to share his expertise with clients and colleagues alike and remains passionate about caring for both racing and retired greyhounds.
Outside the clinic, Peter enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, farming, and playing golf.

Dr Lisa loves helping all furry creatures, especially dogs and cats, persuing her love for animals, she graduated from vet school in 2008 to be a vet.
In 2014, she landed to Australia with her small family to study for her master’s degree in veterinary medicine at QLD university where she fell in love with Australia and started her journey to do the board examination to be a fully qualified vet registered in the USA and Australia. During her journey, she worked in small animal practices to get hands-on skills in general consultation and surgery.
Dr Lisa had 2 furry kids (Charlie and Sugar). She loves walking, cooking and colouring.

Shayuri graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2021 and made the exciting move from South Africa to Australia to join our veterinary team. With a passion for animal care and a fresh perspective, she quickly became a valued member of our clinic.
When she’s not at the clinic, Shayuri loves spending time at the beach, cooking up new recipes, baking delicious treats, and embarking on outdoor adventures.

Originally hailing from England, Paula graduated from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in Veterinary Nursing in 1994. She moved to Australia in 2000 and now lives on a busy farm surrounded by a range of furry and feathered friends – including horses, chickens, sheep, dogs, cats and Dr Brian. On the rare occasion that she has a day off, you can catch her painting (she is a brilliant artist) or making mugs!

Amanda (affectionately known as Mandy) has worked at Belmont Vet Hospital since 2008. She obtained her Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV at Kurri Kurri TAFE and over the past 12 years, has learnt every trick in the book for keeping animals comfortable and calm. Mandy lives at home with her hubby, beautiful young son and 2 cheeky greyhounds. In her free time, Mandy enjoys camping, baking and kicking back to a good Netflix series.

Rosa moved to Australia from Finland in 2014. After studying her Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV at Sydney TAFE, she opted for a sea-change and headed north to Newcastle with her partner. Rosa joined the team at Belmont Vet Hospital in 2019. In her spare time, Rosa can be found hiking, horse riding and exploring the beautiful beaches that Newcastle has to offer.

Abby joined the Belmont team in 2024. After studying a Bachelor of Biomedical science, she quickly realised that she her true passion lies in the veterinary industry. She completed her certificate IV in 2023 and is now studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology at Charles Sturt University. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, playing the guitar and caring for her many pets which include a labrador, golden retriever, 2 cats, 4 bearded dragons, 4 geckos and 2 turtles.

Kailei has been part of the Belmont Vets team on and off since completing The Big Picture program in Year 9. With her passion for veterinary care, she went on to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is now a qualified veterinary nurse. Kailei continues to grow her skills and experience with our team, providing excellent care to pets and their families.
When she’s not in the clinic, Kailei enjoys spending time with friends and going out clubbing.
