Essential Testing for Your Pet’s Health Before Surgery
Pre-anaesthetic bloodwork helps identify any underlying health issues that may not be detected during a physical examination. This vital test checks for conditions like anaemia, dehydration, liver or kidney disease, and more, ensuring your pet’s safety during surgery. Based on the results, the anaesthetic can be adjusted to suit your pet’s specific needs.
The blood test is quick and minimally invasive. Your pet will be lightly restrained, and a small area of hair will be clipped for the blood draw. The procedure is quick and causes very little discomfort, with hair regrowth occurring rapidly.
Blood samples are processed either in-clinic or sent to an external lab, with results typically available within 30 minutes for in-house testing or a few days for external lab tests.
