How to Prevent Tartar Buildup on Your Dog’s Teeth
After your dog’s teeth have been professionally cleaned, following a few simple steps can help prevent plaque and tartar buildup, ensuring your dog’s teeth remain healthy and strong.
Teeth Brushing
Brushing your dog’s teeth is one of the most effective ways to remove plaque before it turns into tartar. We recommend using a dog-specific toothpaste and brushing your dog’s teeth at least twice a week (preferably daily). Finger brushes can make this task easier and more comfortable for both you and your pet. To help your dog get used to tooth brushing, start by dipping the toothbrush in their dinner or a tasty treat. Focus on brushing the outside (buccal) surface of the teeth, as this is where plaque tends to accumulate the most.
